How To Add Favicon To Your WordPress Site?
Favicon is the small image or condensed version of your site logo, that appears at the top of your browser tab before the site title. Attractive favicon helps your blog to standout of the rest of the tabs when people are using multiple tabs in their browser.
People when bookmark your site, favicon is the one that enables them to identify your site uniquely.
For almost all my sites, I have favicon installed on my WordPress.
Being a blogger, I highly recommend you add favicon representing your site on WordPress.
However, most of the bloggers struggle in adding Favicon to their WordPress site. If you are one of them, this tutorial will help you to create and add a favicon to your WordPress blog.
Creating a favicon
You need to create a favicon of the format .ico of sizes from 32×32 or 64×64. The upload that file to the root directory of your WordPress site using FTP or the file manager in your hosting cPanel.

The first step is that you need to create a favicon of your choice. For this you may make use of applications like Photoshop or GIMP. Or any other image editing softwares.
For the sake of this tutorial, I’ll be using Photoshop.
Keep the image format as PNG. The canvas should be square in shape to ensure that the favicon renders perfect and it shows up completely when the site is loaded.
For the above favicon, I used one of the creative common free to use icon of speedometer.
Now, just save the image as PNG preserving the transparency of the image.
Installing the favicon in WordPress
Now you have created a new Favicon image. It’s the time for you to install it on your WordPress site.
For this, you need to head over to customize option of your WordPress theme. This option will be commonly under Appearance -> Customize. Here, as the live preview of your site is loaded, just head over to the section – Site identity. Here you’ll notice the option for setting site icon for your site.
It will also read that the icon should be at least 512 pixels wide and tall (square). Now upload the icon you previously created in that section and select it.
Once you upload and choose the icon as your favicon, just save and publish.
Now when you refresh and open your web page, you’ll notice that the favicon will be displaying along with the site title.
This is one of the most hassle-free methods to change the favicon of your site.
